Upon a Bridge
Secrets behind the Chronological Order of the Qur’an

We’re now enrolling for a new online course studying the gems and secrets behind the chronological order of the Qur’an. This course will be based on the classical work of Imam al-Suyuti (d. 911AH) titled, ‘Asrar Tartib Suwar al-Qur’an’ whereby we will study the relationship between Qur’anic chapters and their linkage via themes, alfadh (terms and etymology), maqasid (objectives), and more. Ever wondered about the effect of al-Fatihah on the rest of the Qur’an? Why and how are al-Baqarah and Aal ‘Imran linked so strongly? The beauties of al-An’am? What do Yunus, Hud, Yusuf, al-Ra’d, Ibrahim, and al-Hijr have in common? We hope to go through all the chapters from al-Fatihah to al-Hijr insha’Allah, extracting and exploring the various gems and lessons that the Qur’an has to give us.

Testimonials:

“I was very excited about the course Chronological Order of the Qur’an (now titled ‘Upon a Bridge’) because I had done a previous course with Farhia (Fajr Literary) and found it extremely beneficial. I have to say this was a step further; it was a course that I have never heard run before and this was too stated by Farhia and this was a true statement. This course not only dealt with what was contained in the Suwar (plural of surah) but also how they linked and why they linked with each other from different aspects, topics and words. The diagrams and detailed slides provided with the clear explanations given made it easy to follow the course and at the same time absorb this information and actually see it within the Qur’an. The course material was always provided in advance and so for me printing it was made easy before the class and also Farhia provided her own slides and notes later for students to benefit from. To top this, recordings were provided where I could listen to a part of a lesson if I missed it or if I could not attend the class on a particular day. Maa-shaa’Allah, overall this was a really beneficial course that helped me understand the Qur’an in a different way and help me to relate the Suwar connections with each other and see it as a whole link and not just different Suwar of the Qur’an… I anxiously await part 2!!!”

“‘Upon a Bridge’ helped me to reflect on the verses of the Qur’an, their order and connection, in a way I didn’t do before. The realisation of how perfectly and meaningfully each word, verse and surah is put together increased my love and appreciation of the words of Allah. A very inspiring and thought provoking course that I can highly recommend to any sisters.”

“This course really helped to open my eyes to just how vast the study of the Qur’aan can be. The topic is quite a unique one which I have not really come across as being covered elsewhere, and maa shaa Allaah the course provided a fresh perspective to reflecting on the Qur’aan. It definitely left me feeling like we had only covered a tip of the iceberg on the links within the Qur’aan. It also left me with great admiration and inspiration to consider the deep knowledge the great scholars of this Ummah had of the Qur’aan, spending such time pondering over the intricacies of the Glorious Book. In shaa Allaah I await the next instalment in the series with great anticipation!”
