
هو دين رب العالمين وشرعه *** وهو القديم وسيد الأديان
“It is the religion and the way of the Lord of the Worlds
He is the Ever-Existing, Master of all creeds
هو دين آدم والملائك قبله *** هو دين نوح صاحب الطوفان
It is the religion of Adam and the Angels before him
It is the religion of Nuh, companion of the hurricane
وله دعا هود النبي وصالح *** وهما لدين الله معتقدان
Prophet Hud called to it as did Salih
And in the religion of Allah did they both believe
وبه أتى لوط وصاحب مدين *** فكلاهما في الدين مجتهدان
It is what Lut came with as well the companion of Madyan
And for this faith did they both struggle
هو دين إبراهيم وابنيه معا *** وبه نجا من نفحة النيران
It is the religion of Ibrahim as well as his two sons
And by it was he saved from the blast of the fire
وبه حمى الله الذبيح من البلا *** لما فداه بأعظم القربان
By it did Allah protect from trial the one set for sacrifice (Ismail)
When he did sacrifice him for the greatest of Qurbans (drawing close to God)
هو دين يعقوب النبي ويونس *** وكلاهما في الله مبتليان
It is the religion of Prophet Ya’qub and Yunus too
And in the Way of Allah were they both tested
هو دين داود الخليفة وابنه *** وبه أذل له ملوك الجان
It is the religion of Dawud, the leader, and his son too
And with it was the kingdom of the Jinns made subservient for him
هو دين يحيى مع أبيه وأمه *** نعم الصبي وحبذا الشيخان
It is the religion of Yahya along with his parents
He was the best of sons and most perfect of shaykhs
وله دعا عيسى بن مريم قومه *** لم يدعهم لعبادة الصلبان
And ‘Isa (Jesus) the son of Mary called his people to it
Never did he call them to the worship of the Cross
والله أنطقه صبيا بالهدى *** في المهد ثم سما على الصبيان
And Allah made him speak words of guidance
As a child in his cradle, then he surpassed all children
وكمال دين الله شرع محمد *** صلى عليه منزل القرآن
And the perfection of the religion of Allah lies in the Law of Muhammad
Indeed, the Revealer of the Qur’an has sent His blessings upon him…”

فصل الجدال من نونية الامام القحطاني الأندلسي رحمه الله
لاَ تُفْنِ عُمْرَكَ في الْجِدَالِ مُخَاصِمًا
إِنَّ الْجِدَالَ يُخِلُّ بِالأَدْيَانِ
وَاحْذَرْ مُجَادَلَةَ الرِّجَالِ فَإِنَّهَا
تَدْعُو إِلَى الشَّحْنَاءِ وَالشَّنَآنِ
وَإِذَا اضْطُرِرْتَ إِلَى الْجِدَالِ وَلَمْ تَجِدْ
لَكَ مَهْرَبًا وَتَلاَقَتِ الصَّفَّانِ
Do not waste your life in argument contending
Verily argument is degraded by the religions
Beware of arguing with the men because it
Calls to malice and severe hate
And if you are forced to argue and you do not find
For you an escape and two meeting roads
فَاجْعَلْ كِتَابَ اللهِ دِرْعًا سَابِغًا
وَالشَّرْعَ سَيْفَكَ وَابْدُ في الْمَيْدَانِ
وَالسُّنَّةَ الْبَيْضَاءَ دُونَكَ جُنَّةً
وَارْكَبْ جَوَادَ الْعَزْمِ في الْجَوَلاَنِ
وَاثْبُتْ بِصَبْرِكَ تَحْتَ أَلْوِيَةِ الْهُدَى
فَالصَّبْرُ أَوْثَقُ عُدَّةِ الإِنْسَانِ
So then place the book of Allah as a complete shield
And the legislation as your sword and go forward to the battle field
And the pure white Sunnah in front of you as a shield
And ride the strong horse in the ring
And stay firm with your patience under the leadership of guidance
For patience is the most firm of instruments of the people
وَاطْعَنْ بِرُمْحِ الْحَقِّ كُلَّ مُعَانِدٍ
للهِ دَرُّ الْفَارِسِ الطَّعَّانِ
وَاحْمِلْ بِسَيْفِ الصِّدْقِ حَمْلَةَ مُخْلِصٍ
مُتَجَرِّدٍ للهِ غَيْرِ جَبَانِ
وَاحْذَرْ بِجُهْدِكَ مَكْرَ خَصْمِكَ إِنَّهُ
كَالثَّعْلَبِ الْبَرِّيِّ في الرَّوَغَانِ
And stab with the spear of truth, every stubborn one
Allah will defend every knight, stabber
So carry the sword of truth with a sincere carrying
Solely for Allah without cowardice
Beware with your effort the plot of your adversary for verily he is
Like the wild fox in deceit
أَصْلُ الْجِدَالِ مِنَ السُّؤَالِ وَفَرْعُهُ
حُسْنُ الْجَوَابِ بِأَحْسَنِ التِّبْيَانِ
لاَ تَلْتَفِتْ عِنْدَ السُّؤَالِ وَلاَ تُعِدْ
لَفْظَ السُّؤَالِ كِلاَهُمَا عَيْبَانِ
وَإِذَا غَلَبْتَ الْخَصْمَ لاَ تَهْزَأْ بِهِ
فَالْعُجْبُ يُخْمِدُ جَمْرَةَ الإِحْسَانِ
The origin of argumentation is from a question and its secondary part
Is a good answer with a better explanation
Do not turn away when asked a question and do not repeat
The wording of the question, both of them are faults
And if you overcome your adversary do not mock him
For amazement/vanity extinguishes the ember of Ihsaan
فَلَرُبَّمَا انْهَزَمَ الْمُحَارِبُ عَامِدًا
ثُمَّ انْثَنَى قَسَطَا عَلَى الْفُرْسَانِ
وَاسْكُتْ إِذَا وَقَعَ الْخُصُومُ وَقَعْقَعُوا
فَلَرُبَّمَا أَلْقَوْكَ في بَحْرَانِ
وَلَرُبَّمَا ضَحِكَ الْخُصُومُ لِدَهْشَةٍ
فَاثْبُتْ وَلاَ تَنْكَلْ عَنِ الْبُرْهَانِ
So sometimes the fighter is defeated deliberately
Then he gives up his justice in the Calvary
And keep quiet if the argument occurs and they make a loud noise
For sometimes you are thrown are in an ocean
And sometimes the laughter of adversaries is for amazement
So stay firm and do not turn away from the proof
فَإِذَا أَطَالُوا في الْكَلاَمِ فَقُلْ لَهُمْ
إِنَّ الْبَلاَغَةَ لُجِّمَتْ بِبَيَانِ
لاَ تَغْضَبَنَّ إِذَا سُئِلْتَ وَلاَ تَصِحْ
فَكِلاَهُمَا خُلُقَانِ مَذْمُومَانِ
وَإِذَا انْقَلَبْتَ عَنِ السُّؤَالِ مُجَاوِبًا
فَكِلاَهُمَا لاَ شَكَّ مُنْقَطِعَانِ
So if they prolong the speech, then say to them:
Verily eloquence is bridled by clarity
Do not get angry if you are asked and do not shout
For both of them are blameworthy characteristics
And if you are overcome in replying to a question
Then both of them are no doubt are separate
وَاحْذَرْ مُنَاظَرَةً بِمَجْلِسِ خِيفَةٍ
حَتَّى تُبَدَّلَ خِيفَةً بِأَمَانِ
نَاظِرْ أَدِيبًا مُنْصِفًا لَكَ عَاقِلاً
وَانْصِفْهُ أَنْتَ بِحَسْبِ مَا تَرَيَانِ
وَيَكُونُ بَيْنَكُمَا حَكِيمٌ حَاكِمًا
عَدْلاً إِذَا جِئْتَاهُ تَحْتَكِمَانِ
And Beware of arguing in a fearful sitting
Until the fear is changed with security
Argue with a civilized, intelligent person who is fair to you
And you be fair to him in accordance to what you see
And let there be between you two a wise judge
who is just if you both come to him for ruling
