‘Abdullah ibn Mubarak (rahimahullah):
Whilst in Sham (Greater Syria), he was writing ahadeeth when his pen broke. He borrowed a pen from someone but when he finished writing, he forgot to return it and hence put it into his pen-holder. He travelled and returned back to Marw (Central Asia, present day Turkmenistan) when he saw the pen and recognised it! He immediately prepared himself for travel again in order to return the pen…

‘Aisha (radhiallaahu `anha):
A man came to her and asked ‘When will I know that I am pious?’ She said, ‘When you realise that you are a sinner.’ He said, ‘And when will I know I am a sinner?’ She replied, ‘When you think you are pious.’

Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh,
Allaahu a’alim but I think that quote of Aisha is a fairly good standard by which to measure one’s level of piety.
Jazaaki Allaahu khayr once again.
Assalaamu alaykum.
Jazakallahukhair for this post. It was a very good reminder, and good peek into the lives of those we seek to emulate.
The quote of Aisha (ra) is a very powerful demonstration of the essence of piety. Alhumdulillah, it made me reevaluate my own personal state and beliefs about myself. Jazak Allah Khair and please continue to post similar reminders.
