As I went book-shopping the other day (watch this space for details on how that went), I picked up a nice kutayb (very small book) from the publishers on the topic of Tawfiq by Sh. Muhammad Salih al-Munajjid – I think the book is actually based on a khutbah he did last year. I felt it would be good to translate it and share with everyone because sometimes I believe we misunderstand what it really means to seek the tawfiq of Allah in our affairs – and how many of us sadly do not even seek the tawfiq of Allah at all!
May Allah grant the shaykh himself a great deal of tawfiq in all that’s good, he did a good job in explaining the matter and highlighting its importance.

Today I listened into a class on Usul ul-Fiqh and the teacher made mention of how certain acts which wouldn’t ordinarily be acts that carried reward could be turned into such if we make our intention in doing them for this and for that, etc. He went on to say that few of us are conscious of this in our worldly affairs, except for those who Allah has granted tawfiq in such matters. So, this translation is aptly timed, and the praise of for Allah! May Allah reward you! Now I better get reading!

Shaykh Muhammad Hassan’s maqalat and books are really good masha’Allah but unfortunately, I rarely have time to complete translations – there’s a few unfinished ones lying around, so perhaps it’s better not to start anything new until I get these finished!
