مُرَاقَبَةُ اللِّسَانِ
سُئِلَ الشَّافِعِي رَحِمَهُ اللهُ عَنْ مَسْأَلَةٍ
فَقِيلَ لَه: ألا تَجِيب رَحِمَكَ اللهُ
فَقالَ: لا, حَتى أدْرِيَ الفَضْلَ فِي سُكُوتِي أو فِي جَوابِي
Muraaqabah of the Tongue
Ash-Shaafi’ee (rahimahullaah) was asked regarding an issue (mas’alah).
It was said to him: “Will you not answer, may Allaah have mercy on you!
He said: “(No), Until I know the benefit and virtue in either my silence or in my answer.”

As-salaamu `alaykum
I need feedback from readers:
1. Are these translations benefitting your arabic? In what way?
2. Would you rather i put in tashkeel/harakaat to ease reading?
3. Do you have suggestions.. e.g. I put in transliterations
My aim is to benefit everyone, so let me know inshaa’Allaah.
Jazaakumullaahu khayran
1. From what little I know, it seems almost as good as they can get.
2. I’m fine without the tashkeel, but thats me
3. Transliterations bother me a great deal. But maybe others might benefit. Look at http://arabicgems.wordpress.com his style never bothers me!
As Salaam Alaykum Wa Rahamtullah,
my arabic reading skills on the internet/computer are horrible for, especially when its not the Quran. I have no trouble reading ayaat of the Quraan but other stuff is a problem. Maybe if there was a way to make the text bigger it would be awesome inshaAllah. I read the arabic very slowly when the font is small. but as of right now you are doing a great job mashaAllah. JazakAllahu kahyran, for everything
Wa ‘alaikumasalaam wa rahmatullaah
Jazaakumallaahu khayran for the feedback
I’m not too fond of transliterations either as they can be misleading at times – I thought others may have preferred them hence my suggestion.
I’ll make the font size of arabic bigger inshaa’Allaah – although this will appear differently on different computers.
Baarak Allaahu feekumaa
Please continue to advice me if you feel some things are incorrect (especially in translation)
aslamu alaikum wa rahmatallah
masha Allah im likin’ the translations
jzakiAllahu khair
p.s. what do you mean by “tashkeel”?
wassalamu alaikum wa rahmatallah
Wa `alaykumusalaam wa rahmatullaah
Wa iyyaaka
Tashkeel are the vowellings that go on a letter (i.e. the fat-ha, kasra, dhamma etc). They will make it easier to read words.
Baarak Allaahu feekum
Assalamu alaykum,
The translations are beneficial Al Hamdulillah. We are lacking this kind of knowledge in the english language so Al Hamdulillah I’m sure people are benefitting from your translations. Jazakallahu khayran. Keep em coming…Insha Allah.
I think the harakat will help those who havent yet mastered the art of reading without it.
Assalamu alaykum
As’salamu ‘alaykum Habeebah
JZK for this blog mashaa’allah I benefit from it…I just pray to Allah subhanahu wa ta’alaa to give you some spare time which you could write more lovely articles and even improve your translation and who knows maybe you could help poor Ikram& Khawlah to improve their arabic 🙂 coz there is no way they can survive in Egypt with their beginner level(especially Ikram, so hopeless may Allah help her,..hehe 😉
Anywayz Sista take care….
Wa `alaykumusalaam wa rahmatullaah habeebti
Wa iyyaaki khayral jazaa’
Ikram and Khawlah don’t need my help! Just kidding, you know I’m always here 🙂 You’ll do fine in Egypt inshaa’Allaah… just be courageous and speak up & if you think you’ve said something totally wrong, don’t worry, just keep smiling 😀 hehe.
Alhamdulillah ukhti, I’ve managed to write something during my ‘break’… I’ll post it up now inshaa’Allaah. Jazaakillahu khayran
as-Salamu Alaikum,
Translations as well as Arabic text also being with tashkil is all great, if only accompanied with the source of the text…
