“Don’t worship Allah so He may give you. Rather, worship Him so He may be pleased. For when He is pleased, He will astonish you with His Gifts.”
By the dawn
And the ten nights
And the even and the odd
O you tranquil soul!
Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing
[al-Fajr: 1-3; 27-28]

Loftiness is attained in accordance to one’s struggles,
And whoever seeks nobility, remains vigilant by night.
Whoever wishes to achieve without due effort,
Will waste their life seeking what’s impossible.
You search for glory and yet you sleep at night,
It’s only the seeker of pearls who dives deep into the sea.
– Imam al-Shafi’i, al-Diwan

Don’t let it overburden you

Some quotes…
It is said that a man who was overburdened by worries went to a wise man and said, “I’ve come to you because I can’t find a solution or a way out of the problems I’m in.” The wise man said to him, “I will ask you two questions and I want you to answer them both.” The man said, “Ask.”
He said, “Did you come into this world with all these problems?”
He said, “No!”
He said, “Will you leave this world taking all these problems with you?”
He said, “No!”
He said, “A matter that you did not come with, nor will you leave with… it’s more appropriate that it need not take all this energy from you nor overburden you like this. Be patient over the matters of this world, and let your gaze towards the heavens be longer than your gaze towards the earth, and you will soon have what you wish for.”

Imam Malik (rh): “Do not look to the sins of people as if you are Lords, but look to your own sins as if you are slaves. Have mercy on the people of affliction and praise Allah for your well-being, and never say, ‘This person is from the people of Hellfire, and this person is from the people of Paradise.’ Do not be arrogant over the sinners, but rather ask Allah to grant them hidayah and rashad (i.e. guidance).”

“Don’t deprive someone of hope for perhaps that is all they have at that moment. Be someone who encourages; be a friend who inspires, a relative who supports, and a stranger who is kind. Grant people hope for perhaps that is all they have to make it through, and in turn Allah will fulfill your hopes and help you make it through…” – Fajr
